how to make the scanner camera

this article is scanner camera making how to.

Remind: Please don't send me a direct e-mail about "how to made it?".
i'm not a professional. just for fun. please understand.
i think the Most important thing for making this camera is a brave of to disassemble a unknown new $100 scanner :)

step 1: disassemble scanner

First, disassemble scanner carefully. main module , stepping motor and CCD module.
GT-S620 is a very simple scanner.
My scanner camera doesn't use a light module. Each module is connected by cable.

step 2: build Rails

to slide CCD module correctly, build Rails which using two shaft.
and base plastic board is set on Rail. CCD module is set on the board.
Rail position quality is very important.

step 3: connect Gear

CCD module size is approximately 1/5 scale of A4 paper size.
Of course, Gear ratio should set 1/5. you may need custom Gear.

step 4: set plastic bar for position senser

epson scanner has optical(?) senser for checking senser position. there is side of main module.
also scanner camera needs a plastic bar. In case of my scanner cam, it's set under CCD module.
when CCD sensor is home position, plastic bar should touch a optical senser.

step 5: set LED lights

scanner checks light works correctly when start scanning. if CCD can't get a light at initializing time, scanner indicates error.

also in case of scanner camera, LED Lights is needed when begining scan. But it immediately should turn off when sensor start moving. because of this is a camera :)
I set three white LED lights beside start position of CCD.
how to controll LED On/Off? My cam's On/Off "gimmick" is like a train power supply. Power code slides with CCD module on a shaft. Part of shaft is covered with vinyl tape.
The tape position controlls power on, or off.

step 6: set Lens

Any Lens can use as you like. but frange back length and mount angle is very important. and you may need a IR/UV cut filter to get correct color.

step 7:Battery

if you want to use the camera on outdoor, Bettery is required.
I use DC/DC converter and 006P battery. just connect them.
